The Therapeutic Differences Between: Living in Survival Mode versus Healing
Imagine therapy as a tree with numerous branches connected to a grounded trunk with deep roots. You are the tree! The branches symbolize pain, depression, and anxiety which are symptoms of navigating in untreated trauma. Now visualize the roots of this tree as your childhood, particular relationships, and life changing events that has occurred in your life. It begins with patterns and irrational moments that keeps this negative cloud over one’s head that causes discomfort. Depression is common in everyone because to live life is to experience pain and joy so to eliminate depression is unrealistic. What can be done is to gain coping tools with self-exploitation as well as healing that untreated trauma which is attached to our projected personalities. The therapeutic differences between operating in survival mode versus healing will be explored in order to achieve your full divine potential:
The “Survival Mode” Approach:
Have you ever said on a consistent basis, “I can’t think about my problems right now because I don’t have the time?” There are times in life where it is hard to put yourself first especially when people are depending on you such as your children, family, and significant other. This mentality comes with the fix-it perspective to virtually every aspect of your life when you sit and think about it. The internal struggle with this pattern of thinking is that it comes with expectations of fixing everything which in turn creates a subconscious anticipation of it breaking/falling apart. From a therapeutic standpoint the work must be aimed at the core root of the issue not the things that shows through anger and frustration. Functioning in constant survival mode is a defense mechanism that can be positively used in fighting through the storms of life but also fuels this unwillingness to finish projects and properly end particular relationships.
The "Healing" Approach: The real work must be done internally so the soul can vibrate on a higher balanced frequency. True healing requires you to touch the root of your inner self in order to heal the branches that are symptoms of disruptive patterns and mental conditioning. These seeds that we perceive as negative and positive are both necessary for authentic growth to be the healthiest version of yourself. If the spirit is not healed you will roam in distress until action is taken which activates the healing energy. There is no point in getting mad at life experiences because without them we cannot be mindful of our energy or wise.
Therapy can be seen as a fearful ideation for some people that have been programmed to view it as being weak. The truth of the matter is the exact opposite when a person begins the self-actualization stage of realizing that one has an elusive problem takes honest strength. Curing the leaves on the branches implies that you may get sick again; Healing is where you touch the root within to heal the entire tree. Even if you are around toxicity their approval is not required for you to be healed. Knowing the difference between survival mode versus healing may activate that energy inside of them to take the first step to seek help. It can be as simple as sharing this article with them, finding a relatable therapist and/or restructuring your wise counsel. Healing is contagious!
7 Successful Techniques: Deconditioning the Disenfranchised Mindset
The psychology of our mindset to become collective requires discipline and the willingness to elaborate on barriers such as how racism, family systems, and illegitimate opportunity structures disenfranchise people of color. There is no one size fits all approach because every person's journey is their own and something can be learned from listening with discernment. The first thing we must confront is how we can decondition this mentality of only being in survival mode and enemies. Our words can liberate or imprison the mind so the collective choice is up to us. Granted that we must hustle to get what you need is always priority and I am challenging you to read and share this article because influence spreads faster than change. The solution-based approach is not just having panels but recycling our knowledge and reforming our collective voice as a fist instead of a pointed finger.
7 Successful Techniques in Deconditioning the Disenfranchised Mindset:
1.) Understand Your Role: The purpose of understanding your role entails being honest with where you are in your life. Often, we float throughout life holding ourselves back from concentrating on our dreams because of circumstances which are inevitable. Are you happy or content in your purpose in what you believe you are here to do?
2.) Know Your Power: Practice mindfulness on a consistent basis to tap into your strengths and niches that make you invaluable in any situation. Be confident in your expression while life continues to test you because experience is what makes you wise. It simply cannot just be on you; it must be in you.
3.) Mental/Spiritual Self-Care: Find a type of meditation that works for you: Walking, Writing, Expression, Silence, Music, Enlightenment, etc. Having a self-care plan is essential in sustaining your mental health because enhancing your mindset can help decrease depression, anxiety, and stress.
4.) Food Influences Your Mood: The food you put into your body is like the beliefs you put into your mind. Mindful eating and watching your diet is a form of discipline which also helps with a balanced lifestyle.
5.) Be Intentional: Focus your energy on your goals and take care of the people you love. It is impossible to make every right decision so being intentional will increase your self-awareness. Know when to support as well as pay attention to your interactions and relationships with others.
6.) What Is Your “Why”: Simply take a moment and authentically ask yourself, Why Do I Grind? The question why has many facets because when you are in survival mode life can autopilot. You must ask yourself why you desire to reach your higher true-self and/or peace.
7.) Read Before You Speak: Do not carry a lamp around in the daytime complaining about light. What I mean by this expression is if you are going to speak about a matter that requires details and not opinion through research you keep your “self” true. Sometimes the answer is I don’t know if you truly don’t know. In the same breath, there is an opportunity to learn and fact check. There is potent knowledge in books with hidden meanings so have discernment with what you internalize and speak with fearlessness.
We must work with what we have which is this moment to strategically unity. Deconditioning the disenfranchised mindset is about coming together to understand the psychology of having a collective voice. Our roles in this collective voice demands self-awareness and honesty otherwise there will be no progress. The impact of untreated trauma and the stigmatisms of therapeutic healing being viewed as a weakness feeds our limitations to not form healthy relationships. Providing a safe space to focus on healing as well as dialoguing about difficult experiences is the foundation of setting the atmosphere. We are all wearing masks that protect and/or enhance the person that we project to the world. Many of us have been conditioned to believe that individualism is the way we secure our legacies and it is not true. There is a game component to unifying to share resources, support, and establishing mental health agency partnerships in the community which can only be efficient through our commitment to evolve our mindsets as a whole!
How to Balance the Emotional Expenses of Relationships
Financial incompatibility is the number one reason for divorces and break-ups simply because just love alone is not enough. Business is personal and society has conditioned many of us to believe this delusional divide between the two. Mental health is heavily impacted by your financial wellness. As a therapist, I’ve discovered a correlation regarding financial compatibility in relationships and individual growth to building legacy. If there was a love language for financial balance it would the combination of financial and emotional literacy in order to live the life you desire. Spousal support can be emotionally expensive and if one or both people are broken in the relationship mentally and financially your bank account will reflect it as well. You must take emotional accountability for all tiers of your life and self-awareness is the first step. The following 3 tips are here to help you gain more control over your financial wealth and mental health.
CONCLUSION:
1.) Synergy is not possible if you are not being emotionally honest about your circumstances in your life and when you fakeyour happiness you are the first person that knows you’re lying. Taking a periodic snapshot of your mental and wealth health owning your roles in romantic and family relationship dynamics can produce energetic assets or liabilities.
2.) High value venting is not just searching for someone with a great career but about the understanding one displays through their behavior as far as being financially compatible. Can you see yourself trusting the advice of your spouse or does your spouse neglect their financial and mental health? The answer to this question will tell you a lot.
3.) Seeking the proper professional expertise for the genres in your life that need intentional support and healing if needed. Find a therapist to process your individual/couples/marriage trauma and trusted creditable financial experts that provides proven verifiable financial literacy resources, opportunities and entrepreneurship ventures. The power of choice is in your hands whether you take your mental and financial wealth seriously for the future generations to come.
